Leoncito Belen Cabrera

1942-2020

Leoncito Belen Cabrera known to his relatives and friends as “CHITO”, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Burbank California.


Born January 24, 1942, in Batangas, Philippines, he is survived by his wife Edna and children Richard, Jennifer, and Sherilyn, and grandchildren.


He obtained his Bachelors Degree in Commerce at Jose Rizal College, in Manila, where he was a member of the college basketball team. He played at several tournaments where he received awards for exemplary achievements in basketball.


Chito, together with his family, migrated to the United States in 1978. He worked as a project manager at Parsons Brinkerhoff for more than 10 years. During this time he was also active in the Interstate Philippine basketball tournaments.


After his retirement, he pursued his passion for sports, especially golf. When in the Philippines, you would find him perfecting his swing at Camp Aguinaldo Golf Course in Quezon City. Whenever he was in the States, he played golf at as many PGA golf courses as possible. He also enjoyed playing at the Griffith Park Golf Course in Los Angeles, where his grandson Gabe, and Richard would play with him often. He also enjoyed giving golf pointers to his younger grandsons in New Jersey, who enjoyed his company.


His vibrant personality and his keen ability to make people laugh will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
