Rita Marie Ellithorpe

1922-2020

She left us in the early morning, when softly came the dawn.
And since she never said good-bye, it’s hard to think she’s gone.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and auntie, Rita Marie Ellithorpe. She passed away peacefully, in the early morning hours, in her home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Ellithorpe and granddaughter Deanna Knott. She is survived by her son, Paul Ellithorpe, daughters, Rita Thomas, Dottie Knott, and Marie Rodriguez. She was more than a caring mother, but also a best friend. She was a loving grandmother to Christy De La Torre, Celina Lopez, Eddie Thomas, Ferni Rodriguez, Rachel Thomas, and great-grandmother to Anthony and Tyler Vargas. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She was a beautiful woman, with a heart of gold, who will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please donate to a cancer foundation of your choice.

God Called You Home
God looked around his garden
And found an empty space;
He then looked down upon this earth
And saw your tired face
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest;
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
He knew you were in pain,
He knew you might never
Get well upon this earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered ‘Peace be thine.’
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you never went alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
