LIFE TRIBUTE – Rev. Henry Alvie Gause
Rev. Henry Alvie Gause
1942-2024
| In Loving Memory of Rev. Henry Alvie Gause (1942-2024)
A man of deep faith and unwavering dedication, Rev. Henry Alvie Gause devoted his life to serving God, his family, and his country. Born in Mounds, Illinois and raised in a strong tradition of faith, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 19, serving honorably during the Vietnam War. After leaving active service, he continued to dedicate his skills to his nation, working at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard for 40 years as an Electrician.
But it was his calling to the ministry that truly defined his life’s mission. Inspired by the religious legacy of his father, Rev. L.V. Gause and mother, Lucy Mae Gause, Henry‘s faith deepened with each passing year. As a spiritual leader, he sought to inspire others, particularly young people, to grow in their understanding of God, faith, and the power of prayer.
His life was a testament to integrity, kindness, and service. Henry believed in the potential of every individual, offering support, guidance, and encouragement to all who knew him. “A good and faithful servant, always seeking to lead others toward light and truth.”
A Loving Tribute from His Daughter
“As a daughter, it’s difficult to put into words the immense impact my father had on my life and the lives of so many others. Rev. Henry Alvie Gause wasn’t just a good man—he was a man who saw the best in everyone. He believed in the power of love, faith, and hope. He had a heart full of generosity, and his deep belief in God inspired everyone he met. My father encouraged me and so many others to trust in faith, to find strength in prayer, and to believe that goodness could always prevail. He was a strong, proud man, yet always humble before God. He gave everything to his family and his community, and his faith in others never wavered. I will carry his lessons with me always—lessons of love, kindness, and unshakable belief in the potential of people and the power of faith.”
A Tribute from Joshua to his Papa Henry
“Papa Henry, you were my hero.”
I will always remember how safe and happy I felt when I was with you, Papa Henry. You made me feel like I was the most important person in the world, and I knew you loved me because you always showed it. You were kind and thoughtful, always making sure I knew how much you cared. I loved celebrating my birthdays with you, and those are memories I will always keep in my heart.
You were the first person I’ve ever lost, and even though I don’t fully understand why you’re not here anymore, I know you’re still watching over me. You made me feel safe and protected, and I will carry that feeling with me forever. I miss you, Papa Henry, but I will always love you and remember everything you taught me.
