| It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lindsey Francis Williams in Long Beach, California on Friday December 6th, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Lindsey was born in Beaumaris, Victoria, Australia where he met the love of his life, June and shared 61 wonderful years together before her passing five years ago. Lindsey will be dearly missed by his three daughters, Debra (Brian) Wicks, Angela (Rob) Simonelli and Martine Vail, his grandchildren Chelsea (Matt), Carter (Jennifer), Nicholas, Danielle (Trevor), Adrianna and Mitchell, and his two great-grandchildren Beau and Charlie. He is also survived by his brother David (Cathy), nieces, nephews and friends who will cherish his memory.
Lindsey had a remarkable and indelible 30-year career at Mattel Toys commencing with the opening of Mattel Australia in 1968 and culminating as President, Mattel International after senior executive positions in Canada, Europe and Asia. He was a well-respected visionary in his field, driven by a passion for innovation and excellence. His larger than life personality left a lasting impression with many who followed in his footsteps.
Lindsey’s childhood passions were sailing and horses which he pursued throughout his lifetime. He and June also shared a love of travel and golf, travelling around the world with friends and family creating lasting memories and making treasured friendships along the way.
Lindsey was a 30-year cancer survivor who donated selflessly to many causes and his resilience in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all. Lindsey’s family is grateful for the care and support he received during his battle with dementia and they take comfort knowing he is now reunited with his beloved June. A private family celebration of life will be held later in the year.
