LIFE TRIBUTE – Jeffrey Joseph Winfery

Jeffrey Joseph Winfery

1960-2024

Born in New Orleans to Joseph Winfery and Eleanor Washington in 1960, Jeffrey Joseph Winfery was one of the good guys with both a smile and laughter that were contagious. Jeffrey moved to California at a young age. He attended Lynwood schools and graduated from Monroe High School. Jeffrey loved all sports. Not only did he play football and basketball, but he also coached basketball at Reseda High School where they went to the State finals. If you knew Jeffrey, you also knew that he loved the Pac 12. USC was his favorite college football team. If you wanted to get on his bad side, just say something negative about those Trojans!

Jeffrey loved to cook. He was a great “chef” that took lots of pride in the taste and presentation of his food. Starting with fancy charcuterie boards, to macaroni and cheese, to prime rib and lobster dinners, Jeff could do it all, and that included desserts as well, like peach cobbler and banana pudding. Jeffrey had a great passion and love of wine. He was a connoisseur of wine who had the unique knack of pairing the perfect wine with the perfect meal.

Additionally, Jeffrey was a medic in the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey and then transferred to the Presidio in San Francisco.

A college educated man, Jeffrey was class president at Cal State Los Angeles. In fact, he gave the graduation commencement speech at the University. Jeffrey was extremely intelligent and could talk about a variety of different topics. He had a great personality and could relate to anyone, as he was a great listener.

Jeffrey loved his girls. All of them were special to him and he loved them with all he had to give. He could not talk about them without a giant smile coming across his face no matter what the subject.

Jeffrey found the love of his life with Lori in 2017, and they married in 2021. He called Lori his “angel.” The love he had for his “angel” was the kind of love shared between soulmates. Everyone knew when you talked to Jeff on the phone that you were always on the speakerphone talking to Lori as well because he always wanted her included in every conversation. Jeff and Lori were inseparable. They were happily married until God called him home.

Jeffrey is survived by his wife Lori, his three daughters Diana, Jenniver and Aerin, his step children, Alex, Nairobi, and Danielle; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Leonie, Giovanni, Leila, Alex, Domani, and Xion; his siblings include Joseph, Sonji, Jacque, Nadia, Cortez, Aisha, and Miki Jo. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Eleanor Winfery, and his brother Alfred Conway. Jeffrey had many nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with each of them. He also met and made many friends throughout his life. He will always be loved and never forgotten.
“Those that touch our lives stay in our hearts forever.” Thank you for touching our lives, Jeffrey.
