Judith Anne Lines
1953-2023
| Judith Anne Lines, 70, born and raised in Long Beach, California, peacefully passed on August 24, 2023, following her battle with cancer. Judy was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
From the minute she was born she showed creativity. Her love of art and music stayed with her for a lifetime. As a childhood member of the Lakewood Aquatic Club, she rose to a national level in diving. She was even capable of standing on her head for over 30 minutes! Music was played on speakers throughout her childhood home and became an integral part of her life. While attending Lakewood High School she played leads in drama and musicals including “Our Town” and “South Pacific.” She also earned lead parts as a cast member in major backstage plays at Disneyland put on after hours at the Disney Park. After high school, she joined a dance troop and eventually toured with a band.
Devoted to raising her three daughters, acting took a backstage to motherhood. Through the years she enjoyed giving them parties as well as carting them around to sporting events and activities. Eventually, the need to work called, so she joined the team at Jack in the Box and worked her way to management. She trained store managers, developed training manuals, and did program design work leading her to corporate headquarters. Later she returned home to Long Beach to be closer to family pursuing her love for graphic design. She used her skills to work as an administrative assistant for the church she grew up in. Church bulletins and announcements showcased her artistic talent. She was active in the church choir, feeding the hungry at Christian outreach programs, and eventually held positions of church deacon and elder. Her passion later in life was to be with her seven grandchildren. She enjoyed all the activities, parties, sports and school events she could get to. Her favorite words were, “Grandma, WATCH ME!”
Judy’s battle with cancer ended with her surrounded by family and friends with a little Mona Lisa smile on her face. She left behind her mother, Catherine Lines, daughters, Amanda Jakubowski, Christa Roberts and Shawna Baggett as well as three son-in-laws, brother Steve and two sister’s Pamela and Mary Beth. Her seven grandkids Logan, Reagan, Hailey, Madison, Luke, Jeremy, and Zoey will carry her in their hearts. She will be missed and remembered with love.
A celebration of life will be held in her honor at 1:00pm on September 23, 2023, at Covenant Presbyterian Church located at 607 East 3rd Stret, Long Beach, California. Reception to immediately follow. We invite anyone who knew Judy to attend and join us in remembering her.
